How payments work
Batch 9's whole model depends on a pre-authorization, not an upfront charge. Here's exactly what happens to your card at each step.
You subscribe
Your card is authorized — like a hotel deposit hold — for the deal price. This is not a charge, and no money moves yet.
The countdown runs
Every subscriber's hold stays open until the deal's deadline. You can see the live subscriber count and time remaining at any point.
If the deal doesn't reach its minimum
Every hold is released automatically when the deadline passes. Nobody is charged, and the restaurant never prepares the batch.
If the deal tips
The moment the subscriber minimum is reached, every held card is captured (charged) at once, at the price shown when you subscribed.
You pick up your order
Show the pickup code from your account within the restaurant's stated pickup window to redeem your meal.
If something goes wrong
A restaurant editing or cancelling a live deal releases or refunds every affected hold in full. See our full refund, cancellation, and dispute policy in the Terms of Service.
A note on where things stand today
Batch 9 is currently in a test/pilot phase: subscribing and "tipping" a deal simulates a card hold and charge without processing a real payment or moving real money. We'll update this page — and the Terms of Service — before any real payment processing goes live.
For the full legal terms, see refunds, cancellations & no-shows in our Terms of Service. Questions? Visit Contact.
