How payments work
You only pay for a deal that goes ahead. Here's exactly what happens to your card at each step.
You book a deal
Pick a pickup slot and save a card: Stripe for Canadian deals, PayHere for Sri Lankan deals. Saving a card doesn't charge it, and we never see your full card number.
The countdown runs
Your booking stays open until the deal's deadline. You can see the live booking count and time remaining at any point.
If the deal doesn't reach its target
Your booking ends when the deadline passes. Nobody is charged, and the restaurant doesn't cook the batch.
If the deal tips
The moment the target is reached, every booked card is charged the price shown when you booked. If you book a deal that has already tipped, you're charged when you book. If your card can't be charged, your booking is cancelled.
You pick up your meal
Your paid booking shows a pickup code. Show it at the restaurant during your slot to collect your meal.
If something goes wrong
If the restaurant changes or cancels the deal, or can't serve your paid order, we refund you in full to your card. A missed pickup isn't refunded, because your meal was already cooked.
Refund timing
We start approved refunds within 5 business days. Your bank may take another 5–10 business days to show the money back on your card.
How restaurants get paid
Batch 9 collects payment on the restaurant's behalf and pays restaurants by bank transfer every Thursday night. Each payout covers deals whose pickup ended in the previous Monday-to-Sunday week: the deal price for every paid meal, plus Batch 9's co-funding on collected meals, minus the Batch 9 fee on each paid meal and any refunds for meals the restaurant couldn't serve. Restaurants signed up by a Batch 9 rep pay no fee for an introductory period. Batch 9 pays the card processing fees.
